Ciara Walsh: Associate Consultant at Bain and Company

What is your background/ experience with ISCG and what are you currently doing?

I joined ISCG in 3rd year in college and worked on Trinity’s first ISCG project. We worked with a consumer products brand helping them to define their structure and implement clear employee roles. I then became the Head of Clients for ISCG and led Trinity’s second ISCG project where we worked with an international retail business to help them understand the market in Ireland. 

After graduating from MSISS in Trinity, I joined Bain and Company as an Associate Consultant in London. I have now worked there for 2 and a half years across a wide range of sectors including private equity, consumer products, banking, social impact and many more. I’ve learned so much during my time in Bain and have had a lot of fun along the way, it definitely deserves Glassdoor’s top places to work ranking!

How do you think your experience with ISCG has helped you generally and/or in your career?

I enjoyed working directly with clients on real-world problems (and this is now my favourite part of my job!). It was great getting to meet people from different courses and years and to see the different perspectives everyone brought. 

I wasn’t sure at that stage what career I wanted to pursue but being part of the ISCG really helped clarify that for me. Finally, the experience I gained in approaching business problems definitely stood to me throughout my consulting interviews, helping me stay focused and on task.
